CORTINA D'AMPEZZO, Italy (Reuters) - American Lindsey Vonn celebrated a record-equalling 62nd women’s Alpine skiing World Cup victory on Sunday when she won a downhill in Cortina d’Ampezzo.
The three times World Cup winner and former Olympic champion, back in action this season after a year’s injury break, is now level with Austria’s Annemarie Moser-Proell, who set the record in 1980.
Vonn, 30, has one more race ahead of her in the Italian resort, a Super-G on Monday, to improve the mark. It was also her 32nd downhill top finish, four fewer than Moser-Proell in her time.
