JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — U.S. Rep. Alan Nunnelee, a Mississippi congressman who had brain surgery last year, has been hospitalized for a bleeding problem in his left leg.
A spokeswoman for the 56-year-old Republican says Nunnelee is being treated for a hematoma at a medical center in his hometown of Tupelo, Mississippi.
Nunnelee spokeswoman Elizabeth Parks says the congressman was admitted Dec. 28 and doctors are working to ease Nunnelee's pain and to stop the bleeding. Parks says doctors haven't said when he might be discharged.
Nunnelee underwent chemotherapy and radiation after surgeons removed a brain tumor in June. He also has been through therapy to recover from a stroke he had during surgery.
He was re-elected in November but will not be in Washington when Congress begins its new term Tuesday.
