SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah (AP) — A Saratoga Springs woman whose son was fatally shot by police is facing criminal charges stemming from a confrontation with officers from the same department during an unrelated traffic stop.
Susan Hunt was charged Wednesday in Saratoga Springs Justice Court with four misdemeanor counts, including interference with an arresting officer, failure to disperse and disorderly conduct.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1y3Uz4L ) that the 51-year-old Hunt was ordered to appear at an arraignment on Jan. 23.
She's accused of walking up to two officers Oct. 19, yelling at them and striking one of them.
Her African-American son, 22-year-old Darrien Hunt, was killed Sept. 10 while armed with a sword.
Police say he was aggressive, but his family says race was a factor.
The county attorney cleared the officers in the shooting.
