WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican Ed Gillespie on Friday conceded the tight Senate race in Virginia to Mark Warner, three days after his Democratic rival had claimed victory, the Washington Post reported.
The newspaper said Gillespie made the announcement at a news conference in Springfield, Virginia, and said he had called Warner earlier on Friday.
Warner on Tuesday night claimed victory in the closely watched race following the election, but Gillespie had said it was too close to call. [ID:nW1N0SP01G]
