(Reuters) - An eastern Iowa courthouse was closed on Tuesday following a shooting incident, officials said.
Jackson County Courthouse in Maquoketa has been closed following a shooting, said Mary Stickley, office manager for the county auditor. She could not give any further details.
Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) agents are on their way to the courthouse to help investigate the incident, at the request of the Jackson County Sheriff's office, said Alex Murphy, DCI spokesman. Murphy could not provide any details.
KWWL, a local NBC television affiliate, reported that a county supervisor suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but this could not be immediately confirmed.
Nearby schools were briefly on lockdown as a result of the incident, according to KWQC television in Davenport, also an NBC affiliate. This could not be immediately confirmed.
