WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama said on Friday he has begun receiving recommendations on immigration reform from his Cabinet and hopes to take action on the proposals "fairly soon."

Speaking at a NATO summit in Wales, Obama said he has received some recommendations from Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and Attorney General Eric Holder on measures he can take without congressional approval.

"My expectation is that fairly soon I'll be considering what the next steps are," he said.
