NEW YORK (Reuters) - The district attorney in New York City borough of Staten Island will present evidence to a grand jury after an investigation into the death of an unarmed man after police put him in a choke hold while arresting him, he said on Tuesday.

Daniel Donovan, Jr., said in a statement he will present the evidence to the grand jury some time next month, but declined to say what criminal charges the jurors will be asked to consider.

Eric Garner, 43, was suspected of peddling loose untaxed cigarettes on a Staten Island sidewalk when police arrest him last month, and his death has prompted outcry about the police department's use of force.
