(Reuters) - A man arrested in a recent spate of shootings on highways and roads in and around Kansas City has been charged with 18 felony counts, including firing into a vehicle and striking an occupant, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said on Friday.

Mohammed Whitaker, who was arrested on Thursday, is believed to have acted alone in the string of shootings that has left the Kansas City area on edge since last month, Baker said.
