WASHINGTON (AP) — The chairman of the House GOP campaign committee says voter anger over canceled health care policies will cost Democrats' seats in the midterm elections.

Republican Greg Walden of Oregon calls the health care law, quote, a "category 5 political hurricane" that will be the defining issue in next year's congressional elections.

He says Republicans will make the elections a referendum on the Obama administration and its problematic health care law.

The president's party typically loses seats in midterm elections. House Republicans currently have a 231-200 majority with four vacancies. Democrats will need to gain 17 seats to win control.

Walden spoke at a breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.
