NEW YORK (AP) — Republican New York City mayoral nominee Joe Lhota says New Yorkers will have a real choice between him and his likely Democratic opponent, Bill de Blasio (dih BLAH'-zee-oh), in November.

That's because he says their policies are as divergent as they can be.

Lhota won his party's nomination Tuesday. De Blasio emerged as the Democratic front-runner.

Lhota spoke to WOR Radio and Fox-TV's "Good Day New York" on Thursday.

He wants to restart town hall meetings throughout the city. He also wants to get parents involved in the education process.

Lhota says his greatest strength is that he will talk to anybody.

Asked if he'll seek the support of the Rev. Al Sharpton, Lhota says he's spoken to him in the past and will speak to him in the future.
