Syrian activists: Strikes, clashes across country

AMMAN, Jordan (AP) — Syrian activists say government forces and aircraft are attacking rebel strongholds across the country.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said regime airstrikes Sunday killed an unspecified number of people in the village of Hadad in the northeastern province of Hassaka.

It reported a rebel and a civilian killed in airstrikes and fighting in the suburbs of Damascus, says four civilians died under torture in a jail.

It said the army shot one man dead in the southern city of Daraa.

State TV meanwhile says military forces conducted operations around Damascus and in the provinces of Hassaka, Daraa, and Idlib and Aleppo in the north.

State SANA news agency says the army seized a truck carrying rocket launchers on a highway linking Damascus with the central province of Homs.
