NO POOCH PICS

For the reporters and editors shuffling into the Republican National Convention each day, security can feel like a maze of special regulations.

Those rules cover the security pooches as well, it turns out.

When I tried to take a picture of the friendliest-looking black lab wearing a police vest at the security checkpoint, her young handler took notice and said — politely but sternly — no pictures of dogs or anything else at the checkpoints.

Why? Because pictures are not allowed, he told me, so please delete it. Petting her was just fine, though.

I'd love to show the sweet doggie's photo, but it's no longer on my phone.
