ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Police in Anaheim, Calif., say a man shot to death by officers last month was one of those sought in a crackdown on a violent gang that led to dozens of arrests.
Sgt. Bob Dunn says Manuel Diaz was a "documented" member of the East Side Anaheim gang, which was targeted Friday in a series of raids by federal, state and local agents that ended with 33 arrests.
Dunn says another 20 to 25 suspects already were in custody.
Diaz's photo was among those of suspects that was shown at a news conference.
The back-to-back police killings of Diaz and another man last month prompted days of violent protests.
