Romney, Santorum spar in opening of GOP debate

Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum are sparring over leadership as the Republicans are beginning their 14th presidential debate.

Santorum says the party should nominate a leader and not merely a manager. Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, responded Saturday that he has built businesses and added jobs as a leader in the private sector.

Romney says the United States needs a leader who has worked in the private economy and not someone who has a resume grounded in government work. Santorum is shooting back that the presidency isn't merely a CEO.

Romney and Santorum essentially tied during last week's lead-off caucuses in Iowa. Romney eked out an eight-vote and now they are competing fiercely ahead of Tuesday's first primary in New Hampshire.
