Some colorful Perry comments

Some colorful comments from Texas governor and GOP presidential hopeful Rick Perry:

___

"If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I don't know what y'all would do to him in Iowa, but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas." _ Monday, speaking to voters in Iowa about Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke. Perry also said Bernanke would be committing a "treasonous" act by printing more money to boost the economy.

___

"We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot." _ April 2009, answering a reporter's question at a tea party rally about whether some Texans might want to secede.

___

"Don't attack my dog or you might get shot." _ April 2010, saying he shot and killed a coyote with the handgun loaded with hollow-point bullets he takes with him when jogging alone in the woods behind his Austin home. Perry said the coyote was menacing his daughter's dog.

___

"I think Section 5 is past its usefulness. I think it costs states huge amounts of money and frankly is way past its usefulness." _ November 2010, about federal oversight of voting districts in mostly Southern states as part of the 1965 Voting Rights Act.

___

"Adios, mofo." _ June 2005, following a satellite interview with a Houston television station. Perry said he wasn't aware the broadcast feed was still live.
