White House says debt deal must not be short term

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Top White House aide Bill Daley said on Sunday that a deal to raise the U.S. debt limit must not be short-term.

Speaking on the NBC program "Meet the Press," Daley said a short-term extension would be harmful to the economy because it would not give markets and business leaders the certainty they need.
