Republican Rep. Pete Sessions, of Texas, says he and his wife of 27 years are separating.
The Dallas Morning News reports that 56-year-old member of the House Republican leadership issued a statement Friday saying that he and his wife, Juanita, decided to separate after much thought and discussion.
He says he is: "grateful for many years of marriage, and the blessing of two wonderful sons."
Sessions asked for privacy and said he does not plan to comment further about the matter. He and his wife were married in February 1984.
Phone messages left after business hours Friday at Sessions' offices in Dallas and Washington seeking comment from two of his spokesmen were not immediately returned.
