Sharpton Calls Weiner’s Problems “Tragic’’
The Rev. Al Sharpton, a prominent voice in New York politics, declined to join the chorus of political leaders calling for the resignation of Rep. Anthony Weiner, calling the situation “tragic’’ and offering sympathy to his family. “Every day seems like it becomes more difficult for him to survive it,’’ said the activist, who was in Washington on Wednesday to speak to faith-based leaders at an event organized by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D., N.Y).
