Gaddafi will ultimately yield to international pressure: CIA

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi will ultimately step down if the international community keeps up pressure on his crumbling regime, CIA chief Leon Panetta told the U.S. Senate on Thursday.

"Frankly, I think there are gains that have been made. We have seen the regime weakened significantly," Panetta told a Senate hearing weighing his nomination to become the next U.S. defense secretary.

"We have seen the opposition make gains both in the east and the west. I think there are some signs that if we continue the pressure, stick with it, ultimately Gaddafi will step down."
