WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama spoke to the top two leaders in Congress on Friday about the budget talks, which are continuing, the White House said in a statement.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said Obama spoke to Republican House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner and Democratic Senate leader Harry Reid in separate calls.

"Discussions between the leaders and the White House aimed at reaching a budget agreement are continuing," spokesman Jay Carney said.
