Democrats urged to "get serious" on spending cuts

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner said on Friday there was still no agreement between Republicans and Democrats on a spending bill needed to avert a government shutdown.

"When will the White House and when will Senate Democrats get serious about cutting spending," Boehner told reporters on Capitol Hill. "A bill that fails to include real spending cuts will hurt job growth and signal that Washington is not serious about dealing with its spending addiction."
