Republicans delay vote to kill key Obama housing aid

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A key panel in the House of Representatives delayed until next week a vote to kill President Barack Obama's embattled foreclosure prevention program.

The House Financial Services Committee, which had been scheduled to vote Thursday on a bill to kill the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP), was now expected to vote on the measure next week, said Representative Spencer Bachus, the panel's chair.

Bachus said the panel would vote on two lesser known programs on Thursday and consider HAMP and one other program next week.
