Obama to make statement on Libya

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama plans to make a statement on Libya on Friday at 2 p.m. EST, the White House said.

Just before the statement, Obama plans to meet with Democratic and Republican congressional leaders.

It will mark Obama's first public comments since the United Nations authorized military strikes to curb Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
