Ex-State employee sentenced to 2-year probation

A former State Department employee has been placed on probation for two years for illegally accessing passport applications of more than 65 celebrities and others.

Twenty-eight-year-old Karal Busch of District Heights, Md., is among a small group of current or former State Department employee or contractor to plead guilty in a criminal investigation into passport file snooping.

Busch, who admitted to engaging in unauthorized computer access, also was ordered by a federal magistrate to perform 25 hours of community service.

The passport files Busch accessed also included the families of celebrities as well as actors, professional athletes, musicians and models.
