Obama toasts India as state dinner begins

President Barack Obama honored India's prime minister with a toast in which he called the United States' relationship with India a "great and growing partnership."

Obama opened the state dinner of his presidency with kind words for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh (MAHN'-moh-hahn SING). He said the two leaders are bringing their countries together like never before.

Obama says he wants the two nations to work together.

Singh returned the praise, saying Obama's election has allowed millions of Indians to dream of their futures.
