Mom involved in Mich. standoff gets daughter back

A Detroit mother has regained custody of the daughter she lost after refusing to give the teen a powerful anti-psychotic drug and holding police at bay outside their home.

TV stations WDIV and WXYZ reported that a juvenile court judge ruled Thursday that Maryanne Godboldo can take her daughter Ariana home.

Ariana has been living with Godboldo's sister. Her mother was allowed supervised visitation. A jury in August found Godboldo guilty of neglect.

Also last month, a judge dismissed criminal charges against Godboldo in the March standoff. She had been accused of firing a shot at police.

Godboldo had been battling the Michigan Department of Human Services after she took her daughter off Risperdal, which often is used to contain aggression and treat autism. Ariana was 13 at the time.
