Bill Brady joins Newt Gingrich at jobs rally

Illinois' Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Brady and former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich say Democratic officials in the state and Washington have hurt the economy.

The appearance was part of Gingrich's 11-city tour supporting Republican candidates and criticizing President Barack Obama's economic policies.

Brady, a state senator, is seeking to unseat Gov. Pat Quinn, and highlighted the state's unemployment rate as a key reason for voter discontent with incumbents this election season. He says 35 states have created more jobs in the last two months.

Quinn spokeswoman Mica Matsoff called that criticism misleading, saying the unemployment rate has improved for the past six months and fallen below 10 percent for the first time since April 2009.
