NEW YORK (AP) — Iraq War veteran Phil Klay has written one book and is receiving a growing number of awards.

The author of "Redeployment" is this year's winner of the Chautauqua Award for a work of fiction or nonfiction that makes a "significant contribution to the literary arts."

The prize was announced Monday by the Chautauqua Institution. It comes with a $7,500 cash prize and a one-week summer residency at Chautauqua, an educational center beside Chautauqua Lake in southwestern New York.

"Redeployment" is a story collection based on Klay's wartime experiences. It already has won the National Book Award for fiction and a National Book Critics Circle prize for best first book.
