NEW YORK (AP) — Two Washington television veterans are starting a new podcast to give listeners an inside look at the nexus between power, money and celebrity in the nation's capital.

The new "Washington Insider" podcast channel is creating seven episodes to coincide with the annual White House Correspondents Association dinner Saturday, where celebrities, media power players and politicians gather for a night of entertainment.

In addition, "Washington Insider" will present a weekly show with a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming presidential campaign hosted by Tammy Haddad, a former producer for "Larry King Live" on CNN and "Hardball" on MSNBC, and Betsy Fischer Martin, longtime producer of "Meet the Press" for NBC News.

The first two episodes of that show, "Trail Talk," will be released later this week.

Haddad envisions the "Washington Insider" podcasts as an electronic version of Politico for the Washington world of media, celebrity and politics. In some of the first podcasts, Tim Daly, the co-star of "Madam Secretary," talks about celebrities who try to attract attention to issues important to them, speechwriters talk about making politicians funny for the correspondents dinner and the role of race in covering the White House.

Other "Washington Insider" podcasts will be released on a regular basis, said Haddad, who's starting the venture with Simon Marks of Feature Story News and filmmaker Julianne Donofrio.

"We feel like people aren't getting the whole story," she said.
