Broadway marquees to dim to honor Marian Seldes

NEW YORK (AP) — Broadway theaters plan to dim their marquee lights Wednesday night in memory of Marian Seldes, the Tony Award-winning star of "A Delicate Balance" who was a muse to playwright Edward Albee.

The Broadway League says the lights will be dimmed for one minute at 7:45 p.m. Eastern time.

Seldes died Monday at her New York home after an extended illness. She was 86.

She'll also be honored at Lincoln Center, which will broadcast a special message on its digital posters dotted along West 65th Street in Manhattan.

Seldes was nominated for a Tony five times, for her performances in "A Delicate Balance," ''Father's Day," ''Deathtrap," ''Ring Round the Moon" and "Dinner at Eight." She won in 1967 for "A Delicate Balance." She won another Tony in 2010 for lifetime achievement.
