NEW YORK (AP) — Santino Fontana and Tony Shalhoub will be getting some talented help on Broadway as they share the role of legendary writer and director Moss Hart.
Lincoln Center Theater said Tuesday that its production of "Act One" will include new Tony Award winner Andrea Martin and Tony winner Chuck Cooper.
Also joining the previously announced Fontana and Shalhoub will be Bill Army, Will Brill, Laurel Casillo, Steven Kaplan, Will LeBow, Mimi Lieber, Charlotte Maier, Deborah Offner, Matthew Saldivar, Matthew Schechter, Bob Stillman and Amy Warren.
The play is adapted and directed by James Lapine from "Act One," Hart's autobiography. Previews begin March 20 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater with an opening set for April 17.
Both the book and play trace the rise of Hart who became a powerful theatrical figure, directing "My Fair Lady" and "Camelot" and collaborating with George S. Kaufman on "The Man Who Came To Dinner" and "You Can't Take It With You."
In the show, many of the actors will play multiple roles.
Martin, who will play both Hart's aunt and Beatrice Kaufman, George S. Kaufman's wife, recently did jaw-dropping stunts in the revival of "Pippin." Cooper, Tony-winner for "The Life" and recently in the Orlando Bloom-led "Romeo and Juliet," will play several roles including Langston Hughes.
Three actors will play Hart: Fontana, who last played the Prince on Broadway in "Rogers + Hammerstein's Cinderella," ''Monk" star Shalhoub, who was on Broadway last year in "Golden Boy," and Schechter, who is in "Richard III" with Mark Rylance.
