The Clark Art Institute in Massachusetts has received two gifts worth a combined $4.5 million that will be used to endow a pair of critical jobs at the museum, freeing museum operational funds for other purposes.
Officials said Thursday a $2.5 million gift from Robert and Martha Berman Lipp of New York City will fund the position of senior curator.
Proceeds from the $2 million gift from Sylvia and Leonard Marx of Greenwich, Conn. will fund the position of director of collections and exhibitions at the Williamstown institute.
Clark Director Michael Conforti tells The Berkshire Eagle the endowments will ultimately enhance the collections and exhibitions.
With the latest gifts, Clark's three senior curatorial positions are now endowed.
