NY archbishop: NY Times reviews are insensitive

New York City's archbishop is taking issue with The New York Times for praising an art exhibit and a play he says are insensitive toward Catholics.

The exhibit is by the AIDS activist group ACT UP. The play is "The Divine Sister."

Archbishop Timothy Dolan tells WCBS-TV that the Times is allowing insensitive references to Catholics that it wouldn't allow for others.

The Cambridge, Mass., exhibit includes a poster of the late Cardinal John O'Connor alongside a condom. Dolan says a photo accompanying the play review showed a nun in a "suggestive pose."

The paper says it covers cultural events, "even if some may disagree with the content."

The play's producers say it is a comic homage to Hollywood films about nuns and is a celebration of those characters, not a religious commentary.
