Visa, Tesla and Regeneron rise, Starwood tumbles

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Friday on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq stock market:

Visa Inc. (V), up $1.11 to $77.59

The U.S. government said hiring remained strong in March, showing consumers will likely keep spending.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. (HOT), down $4.05 to $79.38

A Chinese group that wanted to buy Starwood said it is withdrawing a $15 billion offer for the hotel chain.

General Motors Co. (GM), down 96 cents to $30.47

Auto makers said their sales grew in March, but investors were worried because discounts keep rising.

Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO), down 58 cents to $10.56

The price of oil sank as investors became more pessimistic about the fate of a deal that could curb production.

Nasdaq

Tesla Motors Inc. (TSLA), up $7.82 to $237.59

Tesla said it received 115,000 orders for the Model 3, a lower-priced car it unveiled a day ago.

BlackBerry Ltd. (BBRY), down 61 cents to $7.48

The smartphone maker reported disappointing quarterly results, with sales that fell far short of analyst estimates.

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. (REGN), up $44.81 to $405.25

An eczema drug Regeneron is developing with Sanofi met its goals in a late-stage clinical trial.

Urban Outfitters Inc. (URBN), up $1.20 to $34.29

The retailer disclosed strong sales at its older stores.
