JOHANNESBURG (AP) — A South African bakery has apologized for producing a line of cookies with messages relating to the murder trial of Oscar Pistorius, the the double-amputee Olympian.
Charly's Bakery did that on Twitter Tuesday after South African media said the bakery posted photos of cookies decorated with images of Pistorius and messages such as "And the Oscar goes to ... jail," and one of a toilet door and a sign reading "Caution using toilet please don't shoot!"
Saying he acted in mistaken self-defense, Pistorius fired shots through a toilet door that killed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, and was charged with murder. His trial starts Monday.
The images were reportedly deleted from the Charly's Bakery page, which tweeted: "We messed up completely & we own our mistake. We apologize sincerely."
