SOCHI, Russia (AP) — Call it Sochi's day of doubles: Two golds for Germany, four countries picking up two medals in the same event and a tie leading to a double-gold for Slovenia and Switzerland in women's downhill skiing.
Germany also picked up a bronze in pairs figure skating to be the biggest medal mover in the Winter Olympics on its fifth day of competition.
The results put Germany at the top of the medal standings after 32 of 98 events, with six golds — two more than any other country.
The other doublers on Wednesday:
— Russia won gold and silver in pairs figure skating.
— The Dutch won gold and bronze in 1,000-meter speedskating.
— Switzerland won gold and bronze in the women's downhill, its gold the double gold for Dominique Gisin.
Six more golds were up for grabs on Thursday.
