The stock market rebounded Tuesday, logging its best day of the year. Gains were led by the technology sector, which got a lift from some positive comments from analysts. A report on retail sales also boosted investor confidence. Excluding spending on autos, gas and building supplies, retail sales rose more than forecast by economists.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 115.92 points, or 0.7 percent, to 16,373.86.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 19.68 points, or 1.1 percent, to 1,838.88.
The Nasdaq composite climbed 69.71 points, or 1.7 percent, to 4,183.02.
