COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Denmark's troubled turbine maker Vestas A/S says it has received a U.S. order for 175 wind turbines from Enel Green Power North America, Inc.
The world's biggest wind turbine maker says it will begin deliveries in 2014 through 2015. It did not disclose the value of the deal on Wednesday.
The turbines will provide 350 megawatts of electricity with an option by Enel to order a further 650 MW. The deal includes supply and commissioning of the turbines.
Enel has projects in 21 American states and two Canadian provinces.
Last year, the Aarhus-based company posted a net loss of 963 million euros ($1.29 billion). It has laid off thousands of workers and embarked on other cost-cutting measures.
