NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stock futures are falling as investors await a raft of economic data this week to gauge when the Federal Reserve will start reducing its economic stimulus.
Dow Jones industrial futures are down 57 points to 15,941. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 futures are down 5 points to 1,795. Nasdaq futures are down 5 points at 3,478.
A decline Tuesday would extend Monday's losses that were fueled by disappointing consumer spending over the Thanksgiving weekend holiday shopping kickoff.
Later Tuesday, investors will scrutinize November auto sales for clues on the health of that industry and the broader economy. Black Friday deals and the long Thanksgiving weekend lured buyers into U.S. automobile showrooms, and analysts say the surge should boost November sales above a strong month last year.
