How the Dow Jones industrial average fared Tuesday

The Dow Jones industrial average fell as a series of disappointing earnings reports weighed on stocks. Coca-Cola said cold, wet weather had hurt demand for its products. The Standard & Poor's 500 index ended an eight-day winning streak.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 32.41 points, or 0.2 percent, to close at 15,451.85.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index dropped 6.24 points, or 0.4 percent, to 1,676.26.

The Nasdaq composite declined 8.99 points, or 0.3 percent, to 3,598.50.

For the week so far:

The Dow is down 12.45, or 0.1 percent.

The S&P 500 is down 3.93, or 0.2 percent.

The Nasdaq is down 1.58, or 0.04 percent.

For the year so far:

The Dow is up 2,347.71 points, or 17.9 percent.

The S&P 500 is up 250.07 points, or 17.5 percent.

The Nasdaq is up 578.99 points, or 19.2 percent.
