Mitsubishi Motors North America said Friday that its May U.S. sales fell 26.3 percent on weaker demand for most of its vehicles.
BY THE NUMBERS: The Japanese automaker said total sales fell to 5,575 in May, from 7,568 in the same month last year.
TOP SELLER: Sales of the Galant sedan rose 31.3 percent to 1,895 from 1,443. That was Mitsubishi's top-seller. The only other sales gain was a 51.6 percent jump, to 235, for its Lancer Evolution sedan.
NOT SO HOT MODELS: Sales of the Eclipse Spyder were nearly blotted out, dropping from 1,189 a year ago to 54 in May 2012. Sales of its Outlander Sport small SUV dropped 9.1 percent to 1,266. Lancer sedan sales fell 40 percent to 1,099.
