THE MOVE: General Motors on Thursday will reveal a marketing alliance between the Chevrolet brand and England's Manchester United soccer team.
THE IMPACT: Terms of the deal weren't revealed, but Chevrolet is expected to become a sponsor. Manchester United claims to be the most popular sports franchise on Earth. The team has research showing it has 659 million fans, nearly one-tenth of the world's population.
THE REASON: Much of Manchester United's fans are in Asia, namely China, where GM sells more cars than any other country. But the deal also should help promote Chevy in Europe, Africa and even the U.S.
