New French campaign fights counterfeit fashion

The French body that fights fake luxury goods has launched a campaign against counterfeit products that'll be displayed in airports across seven European countries including France and Italy.

The Comite Colbert posters went up Wednesday in Paris, featuring photos of fake handbags, phones, shades and watches next to text such as, "With this phone, you better be ready to call your lawyer!"

The campaign aims to highlight serious criminal activity that the national anti-counterfeiting committee estimates costs French industry (EURO)6 billion ($7.46 billion).

Though counterfeit-sellers often target foreigners in Paris' tourist hotspots, Comite Colbert's president, Elisabeth Ponsolle des Portes, says that "the growing counterfeiting on e-commerce websites make it more and more difficult to regulate."
