Coty Inc. on Monday made a $10 billion offer for fellow beauty-products seller Avon Products Inc. Here's a look at how the two companies stack up.

CEO: Andrea Jung, though the company is looking for a replacement. Jung intends to remain chairman.

Roots: Founded in 1886 by David H. McConnell, a traveling book salesman who noticed customers were more interested in his free perfume samples.

Finances: In its last fiscal year ended Dec. 31, net income fell 15 percent, while total revenue rose 4 percent to $11.11 billion. About 80 percent of Avon's revenue comes from overseas.
