Alitalia has started flying a new route between Milan's Linate and London's City airports.
The Italian airline says the service made its debut Monday using new Embraer E-190 aircraft. There will be two flights in each direction Monday through Friday and one flight on Sundays.
Alitalia has predicted in a statement that this year it will fly some 50,000 passengers on the route, and says it is weighing whether to expand the service to three flights daily. Other Alitalia flights from Linate to London fly into Heathrow airport.
