SOUL SEARCHING: The market struggled for direction Friday, fluctuating between small gains and losses before ending the day mixed. The Dow Jones industrial average and the Nasdaq composite index fell, while the Standard & Poor's 500 rose.

A FILL-UP OR A STICK-UP?: Higher gas prices continued to weigh down hopes about the U.S. economic recovery. A gallon of regular gas now costs an average of $3.83, up 31 cents from a month ago.

PLAYING WITH CHICKEN: Buffalo Wild Wings fell 3 percent after Wedbush analyst Nick Setyan said he expects wing costs to remain higher than usual.
