Raytheon's Navy contracts mean work in Miss.

Raytheon Co.'s plant in Forest, Miss., will get a significant amount of work on radar systems for Navy fighter jets under two contract modifications _ one for $77.3 million and the other for $45.2 million.

The Navy said the Mississippi plant is to do 34 percent of the work on 89 radar warning receivers for F/A-18 Hornets, and 43 percent of the work on 16 radars to be added to F/A-18E/F Super Hornets.

A Defense Department news release sent Wednesday said both contracts are expected to be completed in December 2014.

The larger contract, for the Hornet radars, is with Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems, of Goleta, Calif. The other is with Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems, of El Segundo, Calif.
