7 NH firms share $90,000 in job training grants

Seven New Hampshire companies will share $90,000 in job training grants that are expected to help nearly 400 workers acquire new skills.

Gov. John Lynch says the latest round of grants are among more than $4 million issued in the past five years to help train over 12,000 New Hampshire workers.

Recipients of this latest round of grants range from a credit union in Manchester to a salon in Derry.

Unemployment figures released Tuesday show New Hampshire's unemployment rate is 5.2 percent, the fourth lowest in the nation. The national unemployment rate for January was 8.3 percent.

The number of employed New Hampshire residents grew by nearly 1,200 people in January.
