Kellogg Co. on Thursday said it was buying Pringles from Proctor & Gamble in a deal valued at $2.7 billion. The purchase makes Kellogg the No. 2 savory snack food company after PepsiCo Inc., which owns Frito-Lay. Here's a look at popular brands from the two companies:
Cereals include Apple Jacks, Froot Loops, Frosted Flakes, Raisin Bran, Rice Krispies and Special K. The company also owns Eggo frozen waffles, Nutri-Grain cereal bars and fruit flavored snacks.
The company's Keebler line includes Animals Frosted, Chips Deluxe and E.L. Fudge cookies, as well as Club and Zesta crackers in the savory department. Kellogg also owns Cheez-It crackers.
In addition to its sodas, the company's Frito-Lay business includes Lay's Doritos, Tostitos, Cheetos, Ruffles and Sun Chips.
PepsiCo also has a big stake in the breakfast market. Its Quaker line includes instant oatmeal, granola bars, Aunt Jemima syrups and pancake mixes and Cap'n Crunch and Life cereals.
The company also owns Tropicana juices.
