The Seneca Indian Nation has chosen an architect to design a permanent casino in Buffalo, N.Y.
The Seneca Gaming Corp. says it's hired Memphis-based Hnedak Bobo Group to develop a master plan for a site near Buffalo's Inner Harbor where the Senecas have operated a temporary casino since 2007.
The western New York tribe originally intended to build a $333 million casino and hotel complex at the nine-acre site but scrapped those plans in 2008 because of the economic downturn and pending legal challenges from casino opponents.
A group of those opponents, Citizens for a Better Buffalo, said Wednesday they're not done fighting and that it's premature for the Senecas to move forward.
The Hnedak Bobo Group has worked on design and planning for more than 25 Indian nations.
